About Richard A. King

Richard A. King has dedicated over three decades of his life to serving and protecting the community. With 36 years of law enforcement experience, including 24 years serving Windsor County, he brings unmatched knowledge, leadership, and commitment to the role of Sheriff.

Currently serving as a Lieutenant and Patrol Commander with the Windsor County Sheriff’s Department, Richard oversees daily operations and provides guidance and support to deputies in the field. His leadership ensures that law enforcement efforts remain efficient, professional, and focused on community safety.

Throughout his career, Richard has built a strong foundation of expertise and specialized training. He is a Nationally Certified Drug Recognition Expert and a Certified Child and Adult Forensic Interviewer, demonstrating his dedication to handling complex and sensitive cases with care and precision. As a founding member of the Windsor County Special Investigations Unit, he has played a key role in investigating child abuse and serious crimes, always prioritizing justice and the protection of vulnerable individuals.

In addition, Richard serves as a Special Deputy U.S. Marshal, working alongside federal agencies on critical task force operations. This experience reflects his ability to collaborate across agencies and tackle challenges at both the local and national level.
